PROFILE OF MUSCULOSKELETAL ONCOLOGY SUPPORT FOUNDATION (MONSUF)

Musculoskeletal Oncology Support Foundation (MONSUF) was calved out from Lagos Musculoskeletal Oncology Network (LAMON), a national medical group formed by doctors and other health care professionals who treat patients with musculoskeletal tumours.

Members of LAMON meet on monthly basis to review the treatments being given to their patients and to brainstorm on the best treatment options for these patients.

 MONSUF was actually formed with the primary aim of alleviating the financial burden of treatments of patients with musculoskeletal tumours and to provide social and psychological support for them and their families;   other aims  as spelt out  in MONSUF Constitution include:

The mission statement of MONSUF is to advocate for patients by raising awareness about Sarcoma, by funding treatment of the disease and, by encouraging and funding training and research into Sarcoma.
Affairs of MONSUF are overseen by Board of Trustees while the activities are executed by members of Executive Committee (EXCO) led by the Chairman of the Foundation presently Prof Suleiman Olayiwola Giwa.

These two bodies are expected to be complimented by some advisers drawn from different spheres in the society.

As clearly stated in the Constitution, membership is open to any willing and responsible nigerian and non-nigerian who believe in the aims and objectives of MONSUF.
